Kijani Box training guide

Step 1 Welcome to the Kijani Box team

Welcome to the Kijani Box Agent Programme.

Your role is simple.

Introduce people to Kijani Box, explain the product, and direct interested customers to their nearest Kijani Box shop. Our team will handle registration, payment and installation.

Every successful customer you introduce earns you commission, so the more people you help, the more you can earn.

You don’t need experience in solar or sales. This training will teach you everything you need to know, step by step.

In the next few minutes you’ll learn:

  • What Kijani Box is
  • Who to speak to
  • How to introduce the product
  • How the sales process works
  • How commissions are earned

Let’s get started..

Step 2 – What is Kijani Box?

Before you can recommend Kijani Box, you need to understand it yourself.

Kijani Box is a solar power system with a built-in inverter and battery that gives homes and businesses reliable electricity, even when the grid goes off.

Instead of paying the full cost upfront, customers can own a Kijani Box through our Pay As You Go (PAYGO) payment plan. They make an initial deposit, followed by affordable regular payments until the system is fully paid off.

This allows more families and businesses to access reliable electricity without needing a large upfront investment.

Why customers choose Kijani Box

  • Reliable power during blackouts
  • Affordable PAYGO payment plans
  • Power for lights, TVs, Wi-Fi, laptops and other everyday appliances*
  • Professional installation by the Kijani Box team
  • Local customer support after installation

Your job isn’t to explain every technical detail.

Your job is simply to help the customer understand one thing:

Kijani Box makes reliable electricity affordable through flexible payments.

If a customer has technical questions, don’t worry. Our team will explain everything during the sales process.

Next Step: Learn how to identify the people most likely to become Kijani Box customers.

What Kijani Box Can Power

This should be a new step.

Agents need simple safe examples.

Suitable:

Lights

Television

Wi-Fi router

Phones

Laptops

Small fridge, subject to starting power and usage

Small business equipment within the 500W limit

Not suitable:

Electric cookers

Kettles

Irons

Water heaters

Large pumps

Heavy machinery

Any load above the inverter capacity

The wording should teach them to say:

“If you are unsure, the Kijani Box technician will confirm whether the appliance is suitable.”

Step 3 – Understanding the PAYGO Plan

One of the most important things you’ll explain to customers is how they can purchase a Kijani Box.

Customers have two options.

Option 1 – PAYGO

Customers can begin with:

  • Deposit: KES 7,000
  • Daily payment: KES 245
  • Payment period: 365 days

After all payments have been completed, the Kijani Box becomes fully theirs.

A simple way to explain it is:

“You can start today with a KES 7,000 deposit, then pay KES 245 per day for one year.”

Option 2 – Cash Purchase

Customers who prefer to pay in full can also purchase their Kijani Box outright.

If a customer asks about paying the full amount, simply let them know that this option is available and direct them to the Kijani Box shop, where they’ll be given the current cash purchase price and assisted with the next steps.

Remember

Your role is not to convince customers to choose one payment option over another.

Your role is to explain the available options clearly and honestly, then allow the customer to decide which option best suits them.

Step 4 – Finding the Right Customers

A good agent does not approach people randomly. Look for people who have a genuine power problem that Kijani Box may solve.

Possible customers include:

  • Families experiencing frequent blackouts
  • Homes with unreliable or no electricity
  • Small shops and businesses affected by power interruptions
  • Salons, barbershops, cybercafés and offices
  • People spending regularly on fuel, charging or alternative power
  • Customers who want solar power but cannot afford the full cost upfront

Start by understanding their situation.

Ask simple questions such as:

  • “Do you experience regular blackouts?”
  • “How do power interruptions affect your home or business?”
  • “What do you currently use when the electricity goes off?”
  • “Have you considered solar power before?”

Listen carefully before presenting the product.

Customers are more likely to trust you when they feel that you understand their actual problem.

Step 5 – Introducing Kijani Box

Do not begin every conversation by immediately announcing the price.

Start with the customer’s problem and explain how Kijani Box may help.

For example:

“Kijani Box is a solar power system that can provide reliable electricity during blackouts and in areas with unreliable grid power.”

Then explain the PAYGO option:

“You can begin with KES 7,000 and then pay KES 245 per day for one year.”

Give the customer time to respond and ask questions.

Be clear and honest about what the product can and cannot do. Never describe it as unlimited power or promise that it can operate every possible appliance.

When a customer shows serious interest, direct them to the Kijani Box shop. The shop manager will complete the official registration, verify the customer’s details and guide them through the payment and installation process.

Your role is to create genuine interest and connect the customer with the shop.

Potential customers:

Homes with blackouts

Off-grid homes

Small shops

Salons and barbershops

Cybercafés

Churches

Schools

Clinics

Small farms

Anyone whose normal electricity needs fit within the system capacity

Step 6 – How You Earn

Your commission increases as you complete more successful sales during the month.

A sale qualifies once the customer has completed the required registration, paid the deposit and received their installation.

The commission structure is:

  • 1st sale: KES 2,000
  • 2nd sale: KES 3,000
  • 3rd sale: KES 4,000
  • 4th sale: KES 5,000
  • 5th sale and every sale after that: KES 6,000

This means your total earnings can grow quickly:

Successful sales

Total commission

1

KES 2,000

2

KES 5,000

3

KES 9,000

4

KES 14,000

5

KES 20,000

10

KES 50,000

15

KES 80,000

20

KES 110,000

Commissions are calculated and paid every two weeks.

The more successful customers you bring, the more each additional sale is worth.

Step 7 – Your Agent Toolkit

As a Kijani Box Sales Agent, you are never expected to create your own marketing material.

Your selected Kijani Box shop will provide you with the official marketing materials you need to promote the product.

Depending on availability, this may include:

  • Flyers
  • Posters
  • Product brochures
  • Price information
  • Product demonstrations
  • Other approved promotional material

These materials are designed to help you explain the product clearly and professionally.

Always use the latest official Kijani Box materials. This ensures customers receive accurate information about the product, pricing and payment options.

If you need additional materials, simply visit your selected Kijani Box shop and speak to the shop manager.

Your selected shop is also your primary point of contact if you need assistance while working as an agent.

Step 8 — Marketing Materials and Your Operating Area

Agents do not need to create their own posters, flyers or product information.

Official Kijani Box marketing materials are available from the shop selected during registration.

Agents should collect materials from that shop and use them within the shop’s operating area.

This helps ensure that:

  • Customers receive correct product information
  • Prices and payment terms remain accurate
  • Agents use approved Kijani Box branding
  • Customers are directed to the correct shop

Do not create your own posters, change prices or publish unapproved offers.

Your selected shop is also your main support point if you need more materials or help answering customer questions.

Step 9 – What Happens When a Customer Is Ready?

Once a customer decides they would like a Kijani Box, your job becomes very simple.

Help them begin the official Kijani Box process.

The customer should:

  • Visit their selected Kijani Box shop, or
  • Complete the payment through the official Kijani Box payment channels if this has been arranged.

When speaking to the customer, always make sure they use your Agent Code so the sale can be correctly linked to you.

Once the customer has paid the required KES 7,000 deposit, your job is complete.

From that point onwards, Kijani Box will handle the remaining process, including customer registration, contract signing, installation planning and customer support.

You are always welcome to follow up with your customer afterwards, but you are not responsible for managing the installation.

Your role is to create the opportunity and help the customer begin their journey with Kijani Box.

Step 10 – Commission Payments

Your commission is calculated every calendar month.

The commission ladder resets at the beginning of each new month.

Commission payments are made twice every month:

  • 15th of the month
  • Last day of the month

Payments are made for successful qualifying sales that have been verified by Kijani Box.

If a customer chooses to purchase a Kijani Box outright instead of using PAYGO, a higher commission may be agreed depending on the final sale value.

If a customer requests a refund, all refund requests are reviewed individually by Kijani Box. Deposits are generally non-refundable unless approved by the company.

Our goal is to reward genuine, high-quality customer introductions that lead to successful Kijani Box sales.
